What is RE:IMAGINE?
RE:IMAGINE is the flagship sustainability innovation hackathon of HED 8.0 — Happy Eco Diwali. It is designed to inspire student teams to look at persistent ecological, industrial, and societal challenges not as permanent constraints, but as opportunities for fundamental reinvention.
Rather than asking for incremental tweaks or superficial fixes, RE:IMAGINE invites multidisciplinary teams to question foundational assumptions, discover root causes, and architect meaningful solutions that foster regenerative progress.
Whether your focus is circular materials, clean energy, municipal closed-loop flows, community stewardship, or transparent policy, RE:IMAGINE offers an open stage to transform conceptual clarity into tangible, validated models.

Challenge Tracks & Problem Statements
Five core domains and twenty challenge statements. Explore the constellation map to examine comprehensive challenge briefs, root causes, and multidisciplinary pathways.
RE:GENERATE — Open Innovation
Have a breakthrough sustainability hypothesis that transcends or intersects these five tracks? If your concept tackles an unlisted frontier of planetary resilience, ecological regeneration, or community empowerment, you are fully supported to submit under Open Innovation. Open Innovation entries undergo equal evaluation across all three rounds under the same judging criteria and jury panel.
Rounds & Journey Map
A progressive 3-stage journey taking concepts from initial spark to grand defense. Stay tuned as subsequent phase timelines are unveiled.
Idea & Proposal
Submit your core hypothesis, problem diagnosis, and reimagined sustainable approach. Clarity of thought and inquiry is evaluated — no complete build or code required.
Solution Development
Shortlisted teams advance into guided development with mentor feedback to build functional prototypes, system schematics, or validated frameworks.
RE:IMAGINE Finale
Finalist teams present and defend their developed solutions live before an interdisciplinary jury of industry leaders, innovators, and designers.
Clarity of inquiry is evaluated — not finished software.
In Round 1, focus on deeply understanding the root problem, questioning default assumptions, and architecting a bold, sustainable concept. Working prototypes and technical builds are reserved for shortlisted teams in Round 2.

Hackathon Rules & Eligibility
Open to all currently enrolled undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma students across all academic disciplines and institutions — Engineering, Design, Sciences, Management, Policy, and Humanities.

Team Size & Diversity
Teams must have 2 to 5 members with at least 1 female member required. Solo participation is not permitted.
Cross-Campus Freedom
Members may belong to different colleges, universities, institutions, and diverse academic disciplines.
Single Team Participation
Each participant may be registered with only one team in RE:IMAGINE. Dual participation across teams is prohibited.
Integrity & Fair Play
Participants must provide accurate information, represent themselves truthfully, submit original work, and participate respectfully.
